The Art of Appreciation

the art of appreciation

There’s officially 11 days left till 2017 comes to an end and we wanted to take this chance and write a post about something called ‘the art of appreciation’. We feel this art has been lost in today’s society of high demands, lost patience and busy life schedule. Being appreciative in life isn’t just about saying ‘thank you’, it’s about showing your gratefulness through the actions you do every single day. The angels at Vital Partners always tries to provide relationship advice and one of the most common tips relate to showing your appreciation towards your loved one.

Feeling unappreciated is one of the reasons people may turn to infidelity and this ultimately becomes the demise of your relationship. So what is the art of appreciation and how do we excel at it in life? Add this to your 2018 New Year’s resolution.

Little Things

As human beings, you sometimes feel as though you need more in life - that what you already have is not enough. This is the first sign to being unappreciative. Instead of a glass half empty, you need to look at a glass half full and change your negative perspective to a positive one. Put this in practice by appreciating your other half for doing a small chore around the house, or putting a blanket on you because you fell asleep from a tired day of work. Little things amount to big things, so remember to show your gratitude to them by also putting in the effort to do your little things.

Time to Reflect

As you reach the end of another year, everyone will be going through phases of reflecting upon the year that was. Ask yourself the following questions to help you reflect and improve:

  • Are you happy with how you spent 2017?

  • Did you put in effort into your career, family and relationship?

  • Did you put effort into yourself and bettering yourself?

  • How much time did you spend with your loved one everyday?

  • Did you get into arguments that may have struck a nerve and you still haven’t fully apologised?

  • Did you say thank you for all the times your partner did something special for you?

  • Did you do anything out of the ordinary for your partner?

  • Do you feel your partner is feeling unappreciated in any way?

  • Are you feeling unappreciated?

The answers to these questions will allow you to see the bigger scope of the year that you had and how you should improve for 2018.

Make the Most of Everything

Complaining is a part of everyday life - you tend to always find something you are unhappy about. Whether it’s yourself, your job, your family or your relationship. Whenever you feel that aspects of your life isn’t going the way you planned, remember that there are things you can do to make it better. A part of being unappreciative is that people often speak about their issues however, it’s the actions that need work. If you feel your relationship with your partner is slowing down or the sparks aren’t as strong as before, make it your mission to ignite the fire again. Plan something romantic - a date night with no interruptions.

Say ‘Thanks’

It’s the perfect time of year to not only spend quality time with your loved ones, but to go out of your way and tell them that you appreciate them. It’s a great feeling to recognise the blessings in your life so be sure to simply say ‘thank you for everything you’ve done for me this year. You’ve been a big part of my life and I hope you continue to be.’

Being appreciative not only gives you a chance to recognise all to be thankful for in your life, it also spreads the joy and positivity to everyone around you. You’re able to see the better things in life and be grateful for them. So start showing your appreciation during the festive season!

The angels here at Vital Partners wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
